It's fun stuff! I'm an English major too and I _dig_ it. I met that cat Eric Peterson last week at an sheeshy event in Boston. He's a former micologist (read mushroom farmer) from Oregon, currently VP Strategic Services at Visual Sciences. His books are very informative, and I am a big fan of the Web Measurement Hacks book.
