Have fun at a Jewissh service, Dave.
I have really enjoyed reading your travelling congregant posts and admire your spiritual journey.
Last night was the first night I volunteered at a cold weather shelter run by a local non-denominational church near Brighton. It was a humbling experience for me.
you said "Narthex."

I enjoyed this. I grew up as a Unitarian Universalist. I'm not a religious person, and think we'll all have to end up reporting to the same creator for the good, bad or nothing we've done -- despite any faiths or churches we frequent. Regardless, I've considered resurrecting the Unitarian tradition now that we have two toddlers. Regards.

Thanks Jeremy,
I'll take the advice of Glide vs. Grace. And thank you for the UU clarifications -- I found the Wikipedia entry. Very interesting faith -- somewhat expected but then completely unexpected in other regards.

I think you are confusing Glide Memorial and Grace Cathedral - both worth checking out in SF, but for very different reasons. Grace Cathedral is an incredible building and houses a wonderful labyrinth, while Glide has the most exciting and engaged worship in liberal Christendom. I would recommend a service at Glide, and then a walking tour of Grace.

Also, although individual UU's may identify as Christian, and it is historically rooted in the Christian tradition it is officially not a Christian faith, as this wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitarian_universalist) explains well: Both Unitarianism and Universalism trace their origins to Christian Protestantism and thus Unitarian Universalism has its historical roots in the Christian faith. By the time they decided to combine their efforts at the continental level, the theological significance of these terms had expanded beyond the traditional Christian understanding.

Peace,
Jeremy
