I'd love to know where John Baxter had his blacksmith shop on the Santuit River in the 1800's. I think it must have been where Falmouth Rd. (Rt 28) crosses over the river, but when I've walked back there, getting down to the river by cutting through the Holy Ghost Society, I have a very hard time imagining where it might have been. Maybe it was where that little cabin-like house is on the south west side of river, on 28. John Baxter lived at what is now 93 Main St. and owned 40 acres back to the river, most of which have become Schooner Drive, but I don't know if his property went that far north. Do you happen to know anything about where his blacksmith shop was?
