Hola Dave, Met Charles in Seattle during a reading & drinkup a couple-o-weeks ago, read the novel, found it to be 'Helprin-esque light', which made it a good read. I couldn't help but feel I've met these characters, so well drawn & felt I was in their Hampton, NY, Paris & Rome world while enjoying it.

oh my, I am unsure where to begin with this review, I do not want to sound like everyone else but I am going to begin with this being absolutely the best novel I have read in quite some time. I could not put it down. This was a day and a half read for me, I could not put my kindle down, thank goodness I found it on a Friday night.
I was so into Harry, Maddie, Claire and yes even Walter. Who was my favorite? All four of them, I would not want to have to pick one, it would be too hard for me to do. I wanted to be Maddie, and then I wanted to be Claire...I felt like I was there with them, wanting to be them.
I have highly recommended this book to many of my friends and I so hope they feel it like I did.
This is a great read!!
Thank you Charles!!

thanks for the tip. gobbled it up on my trip out west this week (an engrossing book is a must when jet lagged, powered up the kindle at 4:30 AM and read til dawn). the characters and settings were very vividly drawn and I liked the trick of inserting the narrator into the story a few chapters in. I had been expecting a crime of passion -- something to do with those knives in Maddy's kitchen. Optioned for a film yet?
